Fuerteventura Golf Club, Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura has long been a sought-after destination because of its almost constant sunshine and beautiful lush landscapes. Fuerteventura’s Golf Club has an 18 hole championship course and is a par 70. With ocean views, an extremely decadent club house and a well equipped pro-shop you’ll love your golf even more. They also have a driving range consisting of 50 bays so there’ll be plenty of chance to practise your swing. After your game you can enjoy a debrief and a much-needed drink, while sitting on the terrace overlooking the Atlantic. It’s just paradise for all golf fanatics – it’s no wonder people keep going back.
Teguise Golf Club, Lanzarote
Lanzarote is a tranquil and laidback island and is popular with families and those looking to avoid too much commercialism. Teguise Golf Club is a par 72 course and it was designed by a British architect in 1978. It is exceptionally well kept by its many experienced green keepers and the design is very well thought out – you’ll have plenty of chances to use all of your clubs. The views are astounding – because it is surrounded by volcanic mountains you’ll see ancient lava fields, cacti and palm trees. Lanzarote is known for its sea breeze but don’t let this put you off – they are usually very low wind speeds and it’s just enough to keep you cool on the hot summer days. Teguise is a wonderful town in the Las Palmas region, and it’s the birthplace of César Manrique – Lanzarote’s revered artist.
As the name suggests the views from this 72 par golf course are simply breathtaking. It can be found in the northeast of Tenerife and overlooks the Teno mountain range. Only recently opened in 2003, this cliff-edge golf course offers plenty of challenges for the more experienced golfer. The clubhouse is beautifully kept and has a very exclusive feel to it. Tenerife itself benefits from similar climates to those of the other Canary Islands so you are very unlikely to see any rainfall.
Whichever golf course takes your fancy, be sure to compare prices and special offers as they can vary wildly. Generally if you stay in the golf course hotel you will benefit from reduced or sometimes even free green fees – this will save you a lot of money if you plan on playing every day. So what are you waiting for? Get booking and soon you’ll be teeing off in the sunshine!
